A singular voice within the French indie scene, Requin Chagrin, led by Marion Brunetto, has been charting a path between dream pop, reverb-laden guitars and garage energy since 2014. From the bedroom pop aesthetic of its early days to the brighter, more new wave-driven momentum of Décollage, the project has continually evolved without ever losing its essence.
With Décollage, out March 27, the band opens a new chapter, driven by synths and drum machines that expand its sonic palette. An instinctive and airy record, conceived as a movement toward elsewhere, while never letting go of the melancholic tension that defines its signature sound.
Requin Chagrin will perform at La Gaîté Lyrique on May 6.
