LYSTEN

To understand Lysten’s music, you have to close your eyes and imagine: Norway, its bitter cold and mountainous landscapes. A cabin, lost in the middle of nowhere, transformed into a studio and a refuge. And up there, “far from the noise of the world, there was nothing left to conceal the questions.” The purpose of this journey? To reflect on the end of an era, but above all to collect sound: the crunch of footsteps in the snow, wood creaking, the wind roaring, ferries in the distance, the fire crackling. An invaluable sonic material to twist, distort, stretch and reverberate, as if to ward off vertigo. After opening for artists such as Grandbrothers, Thylacine and French 79, electronica producer and musician Lysten delivers his most personal project yet with his upcoming debut album. It moves from ambient contemplation to soundtrack-worthy atmospheres, from restorative trip-hop to vibrant, powerful techno. A true field-recording journal, filled with organic, intense and intimate textures that envelop the listener in a caress that is both poetic and melancholic.
